Full Circle - Day 9

If you are new to this blog, start with the first post (Day 1). Happy reading and don't forget to leave your comments.

Day 9

Ivan grimaced as he remembered how Viola had pleaded with him to take her to the hospital. She had had a home birth with no medical staff other than a private nurse that he had hired. “Something’s wrong, Ivan!” she had cried as she held Camille. But he had said nothing as he quietly instructed the nurse to take Camille from her and from the room. Soon, he too left, leaving her there alone holding Alexandria and crying over the uncertainty of Camille’s fate.
Everyone remained silent as they were held captive by Ivan’s haunting words. As he continued, Ivan trembled, remembering now in more detail than he cared to. He told them how he had paid the nurse a nice sum of money to keep Camille’s birth a secret that she would take to her grave. With cash and an unmistakable threat, she had quickly disappeared, never to be seen by the family again. Within hours of the birth, Ivan had summoned for their own private doctor to come out to the house to check on Viola and Alexandria. By this time, he had moved the crib that was to be Camille’s, to a private part of the house in the basement. With great pain in his voice, he explained to them that he didn’t just toss Camille down there. He had decorated it to be an exact replica of the room that Alexandria would now be sharing with Victoria. Tears continued to fall from his eyes as he pleaded with them to believe that he did love Camille. But that he just felt as though he could not let the world in on that part of his life. He told them of his many visits to see Camille. He told them how he would just sit and hold her and wish that things could have been different for her… for all of them. He reminded them of the special bond Victoria had formed with her twin sister. How she would often cry, demanding to be allowed to sleep with her. His heart ached as he recalled how he had never allowed that to happen. He had hired a nanny for Camille. She spoke almost no English, he couldn’t take any chances, and she had no family at all in the States. He made sure of all this because Camille had to remain the Van Cort secret.
Family and friends had never even known Viola was carrying twins, other than Ivan’s mother. She had been the first person that they had eagerly shared their wonderful news with when they found out about the pregnancy. From that moment, everything changed. She had instructed Ivan to change obstetricians, giving him the name of one she knew personally. And she had been fierce in her determination that no one knows that Viola was carrying twins. Because the doctor was one sent by his mother, Ivan knew he would never tell of Camille. Besides that, he was a very powerful man in Windsor. Crossing Ivan Van Cort would be an extremely dangerous move to make. It was because of this power Ivan knew he could never show any signs of weakness. Not even in his family.

Be sure to look for the continuation of this story in about 3 days.

i, like G-Ma have questions also. did they know before cammille was born that something was wrong with her? i really don't like the father. nobody lives in a 100% perfect world.
if i was the mother i would have made him live in the basement.

I am new to your blogsite, but this story is so facinating. I absolutely love mysteries, and this is definitely among the best that I have ever read. Fablous job!
